Mysore/Mysuru: Chamaraja MLA L.Nagendra said that the State Government has ensured that every family has got Rs. 5 lakh health insurance cover under Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
He was speaking after inaugurating de-worming tablet distribution programme organised jointly by ZP, District Health and Family Welfare Department and National Health Mission (NHM) as part of National De-worming Day at Maharaja Government PU College on JLB Road here recently.
National De-worming Day (NDD) is aimed to de-worm all pre-school and school-age children between 1 and 19 years through the platform of Schools and Anganwadi centres, he said.
Noting that the de-worming drive is highly beneficial especially for children who are at risk of parasitic intestinal worm infestation, he said that worm infections interfere with the health, nutrition and education of children.
District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. K.H. Prasad, in his address, said that everyone must understand that health is wealth.
Pointing out that the Health Department in association with all other concerned Departments has launched the initiative for ensuring the health of all, he said that infections caused by worms may lead to anemia and as such, people must take the deworming tablet for their own health and safety.
In-charge Mayor Sunanda Palanetra, Corporator Pramila Bharat, Maharaja PU College Principal Udayshankar and others were present.
