Eco Club, sponsored by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL), was inaugurated at Kuvempunagar Government First Grade College in city recently.
The Eco Club was inaugurated by Prof. G.R. Sowbhagya, Principal of the College.
Addressing the Club members, she said that everyone must realise their responsibility to pass on a pollution-free environment to our next generation and also briefed on the importance of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation to ensure that the future of our planet is safe.
D.K. Dinesh Kumar, Project Engineer of KREDL, explained about the progress of Renewable Energy in India and Karnataka.
He explained various subsidy schemes offered by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) for people to install roof-top grid connected system, NABARD scheme for rural domestic solar home light systems and solar water-pumping systems.
He also explained about renewable energy and energy conservation opportunities at college and domestic sector.
Quiz and Poster Presentation competitions were conducted for Eco Club members and Solar Lanterns were distributed to winners and certificate to all participants.

Prof. Basavaraju, Programme Coordinator, Prof. Ramadas Reddy, Dr. Suma Hebbar, Dr. H.P Geetha, Dr Suma, Dr. Nagesh, Prof.Manjula, teaching and non-teaching staff were present during the programme.
