Sleep overnight in office premises to prevent tampering of evidence

Mysuru: In a rare move, Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials camped overnight yesterday at the MUDA Office as part of their ongoing investigation into the controversial land deals.

Last night, arrangements were made for their stay, with mattresses, blankets, pillows, and bed sheets transported to the MUDA Office in a goods auto.

Sources revealed that ED officers stayed overnight at MUDA Office due to concerns that certain unscrupulous officials might attempt to tamper with evidence or manipulate records after the ED began scrutinising them.

Extensive search for documents

The ED officers, who conducted extensive document verification late into the night, stayed at the Office and resumed their investigation on Saturday morning. A total of 12 ED officials are part of this operation, which has seen a thorough examination of records at MUDA.

They have also gathered critical information from officials, including MUDA Commissioner and Secretary. Whenever there was confusion or inconsistencies in the information provided, the ED officers intensified their questioning, gathering precise details. Even lunch was brought to the Office as the officers remained focused on their task.

Local Police and Central Reserve Police personnel have been deployed to provide tight security outside MUDA Office. The main gates have been locked to prevent unauthorised entry and the area is heavily guarded.

Judging by these developments, it appears the ED officers are determined to stay until all necessary documents are thoroughly examined, ensuring no crucial records are overlooked.

At Taluk Office

Meanwhile, the ED Officers investigating Mysuru Taluk Tahsildar’s Office continued their document scrutiny late into the night on Friday.

They also arranged for their dinner at Office itself. Several land-related documents were transferred from the Survey Department to the Tahsildar’s Office for verification.

The ED officers, who were stationed at the Tahsildar’s Office until late night, gathered information from Tahsildar Mahesh Kumar. The office was under tight security, with  local Police along with CRPF personnel, ensuring a secure environment.
