Assures release of balance amount from MCC to complete work

Mysuru: Higher Education Department Principal Secretary Umashankar visited the People’s Park on Wednesday to inspect the two-storeyed Library which is in the final stages of completion.

He lauded the good quality work that has been undertaken. He directed the Deputy Director to complete the remaining portion of the work at the earliest.

Reacting to this, the Deputy Director Dr. B. Manjunath said that from the grants released by the Government and the Department, the first stage of the work had been completed and only the final stage had to be completed. However, there is fund crunch to complete it. The MCC owes Rs.18 crore of library cess as dues to the Department of Libraries and if this is given, then the work can be completed, he told the Principal Secretary.

“The Principal Secretary has assured that if the MCC does not give the balance amount then he would write to the Chief Secretary and in the grant that will be given to the MCC, Rs.5 crore would be deducted and given for the completion of the work,” informed Dr. Manjunath to  Star of Mysore.
