‘Education has to be multi-disciplinary’

Mysore/Mysuru: Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering & Technology (VVIET), in association with IEEE Global TEMS Society, had organised 3rd edition of International Conference on ‘Technology, Engineering, Management for Societal impact using Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Talent’ (TEMSMET-2023) at its campus here recently.

The conference was inaugurated by P. Pradeep, Commissioner, Department of Collegiate and Technical Education, Government of Karnataka.

In his address, Pradeep mentioned that education has to be multi-disciplinary and the TEMSMET conference is an example of a multi-disciplinary platform for showcasing various technological advancements in many fields. He stated that many such conferences should be conducted to make students and  faculties participate in multi-disciplinary opportunities.

Steve Tockey, Principal Consultant, Construx Software Bellevue, Washington, United States and George Rajan Koilpillai, Chief Engineer, Honeywell International Inc, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, also spoke.

VVET Secretary V. Kaveesh Gowda felicitated the guests during the inaugural function. Jawahar L. Nesan, Convener, State Education Policy, High Level Committee, Government of Tamil Nadu and Advisor, VVIET, Mysuru, presided.

T.S. Manjunatha, Honorary Chair, TEMSMET-2023, Bindu A. Thomas, General Chair, TEMSMET-2023, T.J. Yateendranath, General Co-chair, TEMSMET=2023, M. Devanathan, Publication Chair, TEMSMET-2023, Heads of Institution of various colleges and Special Invitees from industry and academia, Principals from various institutions were present.

TEMSMET-2023 received submissions across the globe — Indonesia, US, Dubai, Hong Kong, UK and premiere institutes from Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab and Mizoram in India. TEMSMET-2023 has attracted over 500-plus scholarly submissions after review and 110 high quality scholarly submissions were selected for inclusion in conference proceedings.

Presentations were carried out in four parallel tracks in which invited domain experts from reputed colleges accessed the presentation and provided feedback to participants. In each track, the best paper was awarded with a cash prize and certificate.
