Mysore/Mysuru: “Effective use of language is essential for progress. Your thoughts will shape your future. Hence, students first have to decide what they want to become,” opined Krishik Sarvodaya Foundation President and former Principal-Secretary of Karnataka Government M.K. Shankaralingegowda after inaugurating a function organised at Vidyavardhaka Degree College to felicitate talented students and to welcome new students of first degree for the academic year 2023-24.
Recalling his student life, Shankaralingegowda analysed the differences between the 20th and 21st century. More facilities and advantages are now available compared to the 20th century and present students should make optimum use of them to create a better future for themselves, he told the students.
“There is a saying ‘Nahi Jnanena Sadrusham’ which means nothing is more sacred than the education (knowledge) in this world. Knowledge is one’s biggest strength. Students must understand the value of time and knowledge and should balance their student life. They also need to take their classes seriously,” he advised.
Continuing, he said students need to increase their grasping capacity by visiting libraries frequently and make best of their student life. Increase in knowledge result in better financial position and ensures a better life, he said.
Expressing his concern over the excessive use of cell phone by the present students, Shankaralingegowda exhorted students to overcome this weakness and realise that their future is only in their hands. On the occasion, an MoU was signed between the College and Krishik Sarvodaya Foundation to prepare students for competitive examinations after the completion of the Degree.
Vidyavardhaka Sangha President Gundappa Gowda presided. Secretary P. Vishwanath was the chief guest. Treasurer Sreeshaila Ramannavar and President of College Management Board T. Nagaraju were present.
Earlier, Principal Dr. S. Marigowda delivered the keynote address.
