Eid Meelad un Nabi celebrated in city

Mysuru: Eid Meelad un Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, was celebrated in city this morning.

The celebrations began from yesterday night by holding special lectures on the life and teachings of the Prophet and recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.

This morning, breakfast was arranged in various Mosques. Sawday Road had been decorated with lights and flags and tableaux were displayed from Mission Hospital Circle till Meelad Park on Ashoka Road.

At 2.15 pm, Juloos-e-Mohammadi was taken out under the leadership of Sir Khazi of Mysuru Hazarath Moulana Mohammed Usman Shariff from Masid-e-Azam on Ashoka Road, which passed through Meena Bazar, Sawday Road, Savoy Chowk, Mission Hospital Circle, Eidgah Masjid Road, Pulikeshi Road, Sunni Chowk and culminated at Masjid-e-Azam.

In the evening, a grand celebration has been organised at Meelad Park after Namaz-e-Maghrib at 6.45 pm during which speeches and lectures will be delivered.

Later, a felicitation programme will be held and tableaux from various Mosques and Meelad Committees will be taken in a procession from Meelad Park, which will pass through Meena Bazar, Savoy Chowk and culminate at Mission Hospital Circle, followed by distribution of prizes to the organisers of tableaux by various organisations.
