Mysuru: The State Government and District Administration are leaving no stone unturned to make this pre-election year, a memorable one for the people of Mysuru and others thronging the city to witness the Dasara celebrations in all its resplendent glory.
Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will inaugurate the Dasara Cultural programme on Sept. 21 at Mysore Palace at 6.30 pm. Dasara Cultural Sub-Committee Deputy Special Officer and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer P. Shivashanakar announced this, here recently at the DC Office.
As part of the festivities, the cultural programmes also form a huge backdrop to Dasara celebrations, especially the one held at the Mysore Palace. As every year, renowned Karnatak and Hindustani musicians will perform from Sept. 21 to 28.
The genre of music includes Karnatak and Hindustani vocal and instrumental music, Sufi, Gazal, Janapada, Ranga Sangeetha and Police Band. There will also be a variety of dances including the famous Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Mohiniattam and Oddissi performances. The South Zone Cultural Centre will also be sending the cultural troupes, said Shivashankar.
More than 25 programmes will be organised at the Palace stage. International artistes including Mysuru’s own Pandit Rajeev Taranath on Sarod, renowned Hindustani classical singer Shubha Mudgal, Vidwan T.M. Krishna, actress Shobana, Sudha Chandran, Ustad Talat Aziz, Ustad Lakhwinder Vadali, Danseuse and Mysurean Vasundhara Doraswamy and others will perform, he said.
Every day there will be three programmes and one international standard one. The programme will begin at 6 pm and end at 10 pm. The Palace will be illuminated from 7 pm to 10 pm, he said. Dasara Special Officer and Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep and others were present at the meeting.
