Eight techies’ laptops stolen

Mysore/Mysuru: Adding to the increasing cases of laptops theft at Paying Guest (PG) accommodations and rented houses in the city, eight software engineers have lost equal number of laptops in a day on May 25.

The incidents have been reported from PG accommodations at Hebbal Industrial Area and a rented house on 8th Cross in Hebbal First Stage and another on 5th Cross near Madegowda Circle in the same locality.

Samanth, Lingesh and Gottam Mahendar, the software engineers at L&T Company, have been staying at Room No. 6 at a PG in Hebbal Industrial Area.

They had gone to sleep after working on laptop on the night of May 24. Lingesh, who woke up in the morning at 5.40 am on May 25, went out and returned after a while at 6.20 am, only to find that their laptops were stolen.

Similarly, Pramod, Lohit Kumar and Pannam Prithvi Pavan Kumar, who work at Infosys Technologies, have rented a house on 8th Cross in Hebbal 1st Stage. They also lost their laptops in a similar fashion, so also Selvam Ganapathi and Srikanth, residents of 5th Cross, near Madegowda Circle.

A  Police Officer expressed concern over the growing tendency among techies, being nonchalant, keeping the door open, while stepping out of the house, that has come in handy for the thieves. Awareness is being created among the employees of various companies in Hebbal Industrial Area and PG inmates, but still they prefer to hit the bed, keeping the door unlocked, leading to laptops theft, the Police Officer added.
