Elderly villager’s death: Cauvery Hospital clarifies

Mysuru: Dr. R. Vaidyanathan, Consultant Intensivist, Cauvery Hospital has clarified that they did their best to save Mooganamane Madaiah who was brutally assaulted by criminals to steal his diamond-and-pearl-studded gold ear studs at Lalithadripura.

Reacting to the report “Elderly villager murdered for diamond ear studs” published in Star of Mysore on Dec. 15, where it was mentioned that Madaiah was shifted to Cauvery Hospital in a critical state and died of excessive bleeding, Dr. Vaidyanathan said that Madaiah did not die at the hospital.

“I was in hospital when Madaiah was brought in and we did not leave any efforts to bring him back from the severely critical injuries which he had sustained over the head and brain. We did succeed in bringing back his blood pressure to normal and he was admitted to ICU and a Medico Legal Case (MLC) was lodged at Alanahalli Police Station as per procedure,” he said.

“Madaiah continued to remain critical overnight. Since he was pretty serious in the morning and chances of survival were grim, the same was explained to relatives. The relatives told us they will take the patient to K.R. Hospital since his chances of survival are anyway grim and they do not want to spend more,” Dr. Vaidyanathan said and added that Madaiah died after he was shifted out of Cauvery Hospital.
