Mysuru: An elderly woman has lost her gold chain while boarding a bus at Sub-Urban Bus Stand in city on Sunday.
The elderly woman, who lost her 50 gram gold chain worth Rs. 2.20 lakh, is 75-year-old Chikkathayamma, a resident of Uppinakere village in Maddur taluk.
Chikkathayamma, along with her granddaughter had come to the house of a relative at Metagalli in city. After a few hours, they boarded a city bus from Metagalli and reached Bus Stand. Chikkathayamma’s granddaughter first boarded the bus towards Maddur and caught a seat for her grandma. Meanwhile, Chikkathayamma boarded the bus in the rush and sat on the seat reserved for her.
When she put her hand near her neck, she found that her gold chain was missing and lodged a complaint at the jurisdictional Lashkar Police Station.
The menace of thieves and pick pockets has increased in Sub-Urban and City Bus Stands.
Passengers have urged the Police to deploy women Police personnel in mufti at both the bus stands for controlling such crimes from taking place.
