Mysuru: With no other candidate filing nomination, MyMUL (Mysuru Milk Union Limited) Director P.M. Prasanna was today elected unopposed as the new President of the Co-operative Milk Body for a five-year period.
Prasanna, who was elected as a Director from Hunsur Sub-Division as a candidate of Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD)-backed syndicate, was the lone candidate to file nomination papers. The filing of nominations took place at Mega Dairy premises of KMF Training Centre at Alanahalli here.
Prasanna, who is the son of Periyapatna JD(S) MLA K. Mahadev, was closely associated with GTD-backed syndicate.
Prasanna pipped other aspirants such as K. Eregowda of H.D. Kote, K.S. Kumar of Hunsur and A.T. Somashekar of Hunsur, who are also from GTD-backed group, to head MyMUL.
The announcement of the election of Prasanna is now only a formality as he is the lone candidate who filed nomination paper within the deadline.
Meanwhile, the aspirations of S.C. Ashok, a nominated Director and nephew of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, could not become fruitful this time too as he reportedly did not have the backing of the required number of Directors to get elected to the post.
