Election Commission website must have access to individual record

Sir,

This refers to the news item ‘Mysuru has 25.59 lakh eligible voters: DC’ in SOM dated Jan. 7.  I went to the website of Election Commission to check if my name is registered in the electoral data base. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the software is very pleasantly laid out and one can easily switch between Kannada and English. The voters list is excellently divided by Voting Booth and Ward, except the option to search for one particular record.

In the case of my record, it was indeed cumbersome. We can download the PDF of the electoral data which has too many pages and going through each is tiring and unnecessary. Also it is exclusively in Kannada. So I was unable to find my name in the list.

It would have been nice if the online interface had introduced a search box to type EPIC number or by criteria, with name, ward, Constituency, City etc. I have the voter ID card and will just have to go to the polling booth and hope my name is on the list.
