Eleven elected unopposed to Legislative Council

Bengaluru:  Eleven new members were elected unopposed to the Karnataka Legislative Council on Monday in the biennial elections to the Upper House.

Out of the 11 members elected unanimously, five are from the BJP, four from the Congress and two from the JD(S).

The new BJP members elected are Dr. Tejaswini Gowda, K.P. Nanjundi, Raghunath Malkapure, N. Ravi Kumar and S. Rudregowda.

The Congress members are Aravinda Kumar Arali, C.M. Ibrahim, K. Govindraj and K. Harish Kumar, while B.M. Farookh and S.L. Dharmegowda were elected from the JD(S).

The 11 seats are slated to fall vacant on June 17 after completion of the term of B.J. Puttaswamy, M.R. Seetharam, Motamma, D.S. Veeraiah, Syed Mudeer Aga, V. Somanna, Raghunath Malkapura, Bhanuprakash, C.M. Ibrahim, K. Givindaraj and B.S. Suresh.
