Mysuru: Eleven students of Nalanda English Primary School in Vidyaranyapuram here reportedly took ill after eating chocolates allegedly given by a student celebrating his birth day on Thursday.
The birthday boy is said to have given the chocolates to 31 classmates of 5th standard who ate them during the lunch break. After resumption of class, 11 students complained of stomach ache and a few vomited too.
The affected children were rushed in the school bus to Ramakrishna Hospital at St. Mary’s Circle. Dr. K.V. Lakshmi Devi, Head of the hospital and Paediatrician Dr. Ganesh Sandesh treated the children who were later discharged after ensuring complete recovery.
On learning about the incident District Vector-bone Diseases Control Officer Dr. Chidambara and Vidyaranyapuram Police visited the hospital and collected the details and a complaint has been registered.
Dr. Chidambara said that the sample of the chocolates given by the student and from the shop where it was purchased would be sent to the laboratory for test.
