Hunsur: A week-long efforts by Forest Department staff to trap an elusive tiger near K.G. Habbanakuppe is yet to yield the result as the ‘intelligent’ tiger seems to be not lured by the goat kept as a bait in the cage but continue to roam in the said village looking for another prey.
The tiger has confirmed its presence by attacking a cow at Tharagan Estate in the said village yesterday leaving the cow badly injured.
The cows, belonging to one T.M. Kaverappa, was grazing in the Estate when the tiger is said to have attacked the cow.
The cries of the panicked cow alerted the combing team of Forest Department who arrived on the spot and got the tiger chased away.
Tracking the pug marks of the elusive tiger, the Forest Department staff have begun the operation to trap the tiger from Aug.16. However, the elusive tiger has created panic among villagers living in K.G. Hebbanakuppe, Neralakuppe, Billenahosahalli and Chandanagiri. Forest officials have advised people not to walk through the Estate after 6 pm or leave their livestock for grazing.
