Mysuru: The Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India), Mysore Centre, in association with Ramco Cements Ltd., had organised Engineers’ Day celebration at Sri Kanteerava Narasimharaja Sports Club in city recently during which rich tributes were paid to renowned engineer and statesman Sir M. Visvesvaraya and renowned philosopher, scholar and teacher Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, besides felicitating eminent engineers.
Er. T. Jaydevappa, Chief Engineer – PRED (Retd.), Mysuru, was honoured with ‘Civil Engineer Extraordinaire’ award and Prof. S.V. Nagaraj, former Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering at SJCE, was conferred with ‘Teacher par Excellence’ award. The two awardees shared their rich experiences and reminded the responsibilities and challenges for the future civil engineers.
The programme was inaugurated by chief guest Dr. B. Sadashivegowda, Principal of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru and Dean Academics, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. Dr. S. Raviraj, Chairman of ACCE (I), Mysore Centre presided. Anilkumar Pillai, Senior General Manager and Technical Head of Ramco Cements, gave a presentation on the innovative products of the company.
Dr. Sadashivegowda recollected the remarkable contributions of Sir MV towards nation-building and the ideals of Dr. Radhakrishnan.
Three prestigious national awards, instituted by ACCE (I) for 2023-24, namely Most Active Centre, Best Centre in Industry-Institute Relationship and Second-Best Centre, were presented to the office-bearers of ACCE (I) Mysore Centre.
Dr. G.P. Chandradhara, Hon. Secretary and Dr. B.S. Keerthi Gowda, Hon. Treasurer, were present on the occasion. Participants at the event included ACCE (I) members, consultants, office-bearers of BAI and representatives from Ramco Cements.
