Mysore/Mysuru: As a measure to check the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, the district administration has banned the entry of devotees to Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hill on Aug.13 and 20, both being a Friday.
In a press release, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham said that the entry of devotees has been banned for the whole day on Aug.13 and 20 and after 6 pm on other days. However, the customary rituals can take place inside the temple in the presence of priests, officials and temple staff. VIPs and other officials on protocol duty of the Government, residents of Chamundi Hill and emergency service vehicles will be allowed to Chamundi hill during the banned days.
The residents of Chamundi Hill must produce their identity card for movement on vehicles on fully banned days and during the banned period on other days. VIPs and other officials on Government protocol, residents of Chamundi Hill and others concerned with rituals can take part in the customary temple rituals with all COVID measures in place and adherence to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. The doors of the temple must be shut after the completion of customary rituals and Mangalaarati, the press release added.
Prohibitory orders around Vontikoppal Temple
As a COVID-19 precautionary and safety measure, City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta has issued prohibitory orders around 200 Mts. radius of Sri Lakshmi Venkataramanswamy Temple on KRS road in Vontikoppal on Shravana Masa special days, under section 144 of CrPC, as the temple is expected to witness a huge rush.
The prohibitory orders is from Aug.13 to 15, Aug. 20 to 22, Aug. 27 to 29 and from Sept. 3 to 5.
