‘Environment-Friendly School’ award presented

Mysuru:  The District-level ‘Environment-Friendly School’ award instituted by Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) and Janajagruthi Rural Development Institute (JRDI) has been bagged by Devagalli Government Higher Primary School in Hunsur taluk.

The award was presented at a function held at the Town Hall here on Saturday by DDPI Panduranga to the School Head Master R. Rajesh, Assistant Teacher Shashikala and the students.

The Green and Yellow School awards were also presented to 10 schools each. The Environment-Friendly School’ award carried a cash prize of Rs. 30,000, a memento and a citation.

The Green School award carried a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 while the Yellow School award carried a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 with a memento and citation for both.

Speaking on the occasion KSPCB Senior Environmental Officer A. Udaya Kumar said that the awards were being presented to schools to create awareness among the students on environmental protection for the last eight years.

Environmental Officers B.M. Prakash, M.G. Yatheesh, JRDI Executive Director V.N. Murthy and others were present.
