Mysore/Mysuru: As part of the Social Connect initiative, Wadiyar Centre for Architecture, Mysuru, had organised an Environmental Awareness Programme at Kukkarahalli Lake recently.
The programme aimed at sensitising students about environmental responsibility, conservation of natural resources and community involvement in maintaining public spaces.
The event saw active participation from all students of the college. Several faculty members and non-teaching staff also joined the programme. Students were briefed on environmental hygiene, waste management and the significance of protecting lakes and water bodies.
Students were divided into groups to cover different stretches of Kukkarahalli Lake. Participants collected dry waste, plastics, bottles and other litter.
The University of Mysore (UoM), which is the custodian of the Lake, extended full support by granting official permission for the activity at the Lake premises.
All the garbage collected was systematically handed over to the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), which coordinated the disposal process.
The entire programme was curated and coordinated by Administrative Officer Srinath Bhadram under the guidance of Principal Prof. Anand Krishnamurthy.
