Mysore/Mysuru: District Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Committee Assistant Nodal Officer M. Shantha has said that every voter must understand the importance of voting and compulsorily exercise his/her right to vote in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
She was speaking at a training programme organised for taluk level teachers and lecturers at Zilla Panchayat’s Abdul Nazir Sab auditorium recently. The training programme was organised by the District SVEEP Committee.
“SVEEP Committees are engaged in creating awareness and sharing information about voting among the public. Because of this, about 97 crore people have registered their names in voters list. We must create more election literacy among the youths and voters of both urban and rural areas. We must try to ensure that no voter becomes prey to the various inducements, take their own decision to elect a better leader and exercise their voting rights by resorting to moral voting,” she said.
Continuing, she said that Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) students and convenors must be given training through various activities so that they can have a clear knowledge about elections. “Community ambassadors must create detailed awareness in their jurisdiction areas and motivate every voter to cast their vote without fail. SVEEP Committee members and activists must urge every eligible voter to register their names in the voters list and encourage them to participate in the voting process,” concluded the SVEEP Committee Assistant Nodal Officer.
SVEEP Committee Nodal Officer Dr. Ranjini, Nodal Officer for High School Wing Devaraju, District SVEEP Committee Members Dr. Hemalatha, Dr. Shashikala, Dr. Mangala Murthy, H.S. Prakash, B. Manjunath, B.L. Shivakumar, Nagachandra, B. Ramesh, taluk level teachers and lecturers were present.
