Mysore/Mysuru: Narasimharaja (NR) Police have arrested a man for assaulting his neighbour with a blade.
The accused is identified as Alwin, a resident of 6th Cross in Kesare 1st Stage. Alwin was convicted in the murder of a watchman of a College and had served 14 years in jail.
On Sunday evening, Alwin’s neighbour 41-year-old Muqthiar Pasha was sitting in front of his house when Alwin, all of a sudden began to abuse him using foul language and tried to assault him.
Meanwhile, a vendor carrying flowers in a bamboo tray was passing by. Alwin took the blade from the tray and assaulted Muqthiar on his face and head resulting in Muqthiar bleeding profusely.
Muqthiar’s son Abdul Manan, who saw his father being attacked, picked up a bat and tried to free his father. But Alwin snatched the bat from Abdul and again assaulted Muqthiar with it, according to the complaint. NR Inspector E. Shekar, who registered a case, arrested Alwin.
Inspector Shekar said that 14 years ago Alwin was convicted in the murder of St. Philomena’s College watchman and had served 14 years jail term and now he has been arrested again. Alwin has been remanded to judicial custody last evening, the Inspector added.
