Excel Public School partners with ISRO

Mysore/Mysuru: City-based Excel Public School has recently been accorded the status of Registered Space Tutor of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) at an event that marked the launch of the new initiative by the country’s premier space research organisation, under its Capacity Building Programme.

The ‘Space Tutor’ programme aims at promoting space education by ensuring the dissemination of the enriched knowledge in space domain through its collaboration with institutions, start-ups and NGOs that are involved in STEM activities.

The recognised organisations are expected to conceive and deliver innovative and activity-based space education for the student community leveraging on the access to the educational material prepared and shared by ISRO.

The programme was formally launched by A.S. Kiran Kumar, former Chairman, ISRO, former

Secretary, Department of Space, Government of India and Member, Space Commission, at the ISRO Head Quarters in Bengaluru, on Aug. 5. In total, 28 organisations from across the nation were selected to be a part of this initiative and Excel Public School is the only K-12 institution to be awarded this honour.

Excel Public School has been engaged in the promotion of space education and awareness among its student community and general public for creating scientific temperament and a culture of innovative thinking for more than a decade.

The Astronomy Centre at Excel Public School is equipped with digitised Telescopes, Sky Scouts and software like Stellarium and Celestia and other facilities for hands-on and virtual learning.

The Space Tutor status comes as a recognition to the school’s initiatives and facilities in this domain.
