An Excise contractor from Mandya was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his hotel yesterday. The deceased Excise contractor has been identified as Rangaswamy.
Rangaswamy, who is also the proprietor of Jyothi International Hotel located at Kallahalli in Mandya, slept at a room of the hotel on Thursday night. But as Rangaswamy did not come out of the room even after 9 am yesterday morning, the hotel staff alerted his son Srinivas.
Srinivas, who rushed to the hotel, opened the room door using another key, when Rangaswamy was found dead on his bed.
Meanwhile, a youth named Ranjith, who was seen with Rangaswamy till Thursday evening, too was found dead under mysterious circumstances at another location in the town.
Even as Ranjith’s family members were making final preparations for his last rites, the Police acting on Srinivas’ information, rushed to the spot and took possession of the body.
The Police handed over Ranjith’s body back to his family members after post-mortem.
Rangaswamy’s son Srinivas, in his complaint with the Police, said that he was suspicious about the death of his father and the youth Ranjith who was seen with his father until Thursday evening and demanded a thorough probe into their deaths.
Mandya West Police, who have registered a case of unnatural death in this regard, are investigating.
