Exclusion of Tanveer Sait from Cabinet: Supporters block road

Mysuru: Condemning the non-inclusion of NR Congress MLA Tanveer Sait in the State’s JD(S)-Congress Coalition Government, hundreds of supporters of the MLA blocked Bannimantap Road at Highway Circle yesterday to register their protest.

Raising slogans against the Congress High Command for leaving out Tanveer Sait from the Ministry, the protesters maintained that Tanveer Sait was the only Muslim MLA from Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Mysuru, Hassan and Mandya districts and his exclusion from the Cabinet will badly affect the Congress party’s organisation.

Recalling the development works taken up by Tanveer Sait as Minister in the previous Siddaramaiah Government, they urged the Congress High Command to induct Sait into the H.D. Kumaraswamy’s Ministry, in order to boost the party’s chances in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

As a result of the road-blockade, vehicular movement at the busy Highway Circle junction was severely hindered.

The Police had a hard time in bringing vehicular movement back to normal.
