Exclusive Fever Centre begins functioning at Epidemic Diseases Hospital

Mysuru: The exclusive Fever Centre at the Epidemic Diseases (ED)Hospital premises on KRS  Road here has begun to function since a month.

Disclosing this to SOM, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. B. Basavaraju said that the Fever Centre would be fully operational by the end of January or the first week of February after which it would be formally inaugurated.

He said that a unit at Jayanagar Government Hospital has been shifted to the Fever Centre and added that the Centre will handle Dengue, Malaria, Typhoid, Viral Fever and Chikungunya cases.

The DHO said that a 24×7 laboratory facility with technicians, staff nurse and doctors are made available in the exclusive Fever Centre. He added that the new Centre would be a boon for the poor and economically weaker sections as the doctors can begin treatment immediately after getting the detailed report from the laboratory at the Fever Centre itself without making the patients to wait for days.

The exclusive Fever Centre is established to put brakes on private hospitals, which are creating panic among patients and fleecing them, besides prolonging the treatment.

This Fever Centre is established by District Surgeon Dr. M. Pashupathi and District Vector-borne Diseases Control Officer Dr. S. Chidambara with the help of District Health Officer  Dr. B. Basavaraju.
