Focus on multifaceted challenges women face at different life stages

Mysore/Mysuru: The panel discussions shed light on the importance of breaking cultural and social biases that have hindered women in their professional journeys. They also stressed the significance of programming, problem-solving and negotiation skills for career advancement and fair compensation. Innovative ways for women to reskill and stay job-ready in a rapidly evolving digital economy were introduced.

Discussions also focused on the multifaceted challenges women face at different life stages, often referred to as the “4 Ms”: Menstruation, Marriage, Maternity and Menopause. They highlighted the flexibility demonstrated by companies like IBM and VMWare in their policies, especially concerning the seamless reintegration of women into the workforce following maternity breaks.

Additionally, the consensus among the panellists was that mentoring and coaching programmes are paramount in empowering women throughout their diverse career trajectories.

Key components for women to thrive in their careers include emotional intelligence, skills development encompassing creative thinking, change management, effective communication, critical thinking and inclusive practices.

These skills are not just desirable but fundamental for nurturing career growth and achieving success in today’s diverse and ever-evolving professional landscape, the experts opined.
