Mysuru: Women power to the fore is very evident, as eye-catching handmade products made by women are displayed, when one visits the exhibition, organised as part of Mahila Dasara at J.K. Grounds.
Clay lamps, hanging lamps, flower pots made out of litchi fruit seeds, pendants made out of silk threads, earrings, bangles, varieties of ornaments made out of clay, khadi and cotton sarees, bamboo and cane baskets as also varieties of snacks are all on display. Obbattu and nippattu from Koppala is also available here.
There are a total of 40 stalls and in each one of them something that one needs is available.
The handmade clay lamps, flowerpots and hangings made out of clay by the Self-Help Group Chiguru from rural women of Pothnal village in Raichur are for sale. Noor Arts and Crafts owner Jamila Banu from T. Narasipur is attracting attention with her flowerpots made out of litchi seeds and the ones made out of solo tree.
Necklaces, pendants, daabu, hair band, earrings, nose rings, bangles, anklets and other attractive ornaments made out of silk thread is one more major attraction made by Priyanka Creations and Sharmila Sangha Self-Help Group from Paduvarahalli. These ornaments will enhance the beauty of the girls making them look more attractive.
Srirangapatna’s Kodiyala Kamba khadi and cotton sarees, Hubballi cotton sarees, varieties of handbags, bangles and Channapatna toys are available. Health drinks like ragi malt, ragi sprout powder, mixes, powders that can be mixed with milk made by Jagan Koti Hadi in H.D. Kote taluk are available for the health conscious.
The CFTRI certified Hamsa mango juice, a home product by Poornima Naveen of Gayathripuram will tickle the taste buds with its natural flavour. It is sold at Rs. 20 a bottle and there is good response for it, she said.
There is a stall opened to check women’s health in the exhibition.
