Farmer, cows electrocuted

Mysuru: In a tragic incident, a farmer and two cows died after being electrocuted at Echanahalli in Nanjangud taluk yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Siddaraju (55). The incident occurred when Siddaraju, who had tied his two cows in the farm in the morning and had left to attend an engagement ceremony, returned in the afternoon to see the cows lying on the ground without activity. Soon, he rushed to see the cows and was also electrocuted after he accidentally stepped on the livewire.

The incident came to light when Siddaraju’s daughter visited the farm at about 6 pm to get the cows back home and also call her father. On visiting the farm, she saw her father and cows lying on the ground and raised an alarm. On hearing her cries, villagers rushed to the spot and found Siddaraju and cows   had come in contact with livewire that was connected to the pump set.

The Police and CESC officials visited the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation before shifting Siddaraju’s body to Nanjangud Government Hospital for post-mortem.
