Kikkeri (Mandya): A farmer and a Congress activist, who had extensively canvassed in favour of Mandya Independent LS Candidate Sumalatha Ambarish, could not exercise his franchise as fate snatched his life before voting on Thursday. The farmer was Annegowda (60), a resident of Madihalli in the hobli, who was also the village leader.
He is said to have complained of slight chest pain in the morning on voting day and informed his family members that he would take rest for some time, later vote and then visit the hospital.
With destiny planning otherwise, the chest pain of Annegowda increased badly forcing family members to rush him to the Government Hospital but died at the hospital entrance itself.
The last rites were performed at the farm of the deceased yesterday.
