Mysuru: Farmer leaders have demanded the local MP Pratap Simha to urge the Centre to cancel the transfer order of former CFTRI Director Prof. Ram Rajasekharan.
They said that there was a conspiracy behind his transfer and forces inimical to the interest of the Institute had worked against the former Director. “He was the first Director in the history of CFTRI who created opportunities for farmers to enter the premier food research institute,” the farmers have stated.
Prof. Rajasekharan has provided opportunities through his ‘Lab to Land,’ ideas and as a result, farmers, ordinary people and women in cottage industries have benefited from his service, said State Farmers Federation President Kurubur Shanthakumar.
There was conspiracy hatched inside the campus terming him ‘anti-Kannada,’ whereas the farmers had benefited from his research, which could be used in cultivation, said Shanthakumar, expressing his displeasure at the transfer of Prof. Rajasekharan.
Including Kurubur Shanthakumar, State Farmers Federation Organising Secretary Atthahalli Devaraj, State Sugarcane Growers Association District General Secretary Kirgasuru Shanker, Kabini Raitha Hitarakashana Samithi Secretary Baradanapura Nagaraj, have all urged the MP to take immediate action for the cancellation of the transfer of Prof. Rajasekharan.
