Farmers picket CNNL office at Koppa in Maddur taluk

Mandya: As part of its decision to block all roads in the taluk seeking release of Cauvery water to irrigation canal to save standing crops and cattle, the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) which launched an indefinite stir in front of the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd (CNNL) office at Mandya town over 10 days ago, today blocked the road at Koppa in Maddur taluk for a couple of hours.

The farmers who brought cattle along with them, later picketed the CNNL office at Koppa and warned of intensifying the protest in the coming days, if the Government failed to release water to canals. 

KRRS Maddur Taluk President Shankar, leaders Channappa, Ramesh, Umesh, Ramakrishnaiah and others took part.

Tomorrow, the farmers have planned to hold massive demonstrations at Maddur town and Pandavapura, it is learnt.
