Mysuru: Nearly 50 farmers under the banner of Akhila Karnataka Sugarcane Growers Association staged a demonstration in front of Deputy Commissioner’s Office here this morning seeking fulfilment of their long-pending demands and redressal of agrarian issues.
Accusing the State Government of indulging in petty politics and turning a blind eye to farmer issues, the protestors strongly condemned the delay in paddy procurement and announcement of FRP (Fair & Renumerative Price) for sugarcane.
Raising slogans against the State Government, the protestors demanded announcement of additional Rs.500 as MSP per quintal of paddy, setting up of paddy procurement centres at APMC yards and payment of cane arrears, among others.
Association office-bearers Marahalli Manju, Sunay Gowda, M.S. Rajendra, Girish, Shivaraj, Shivanna and others took part.
