Farmers stage protest demanding jobs for land losers

Mysuru: Accusing the District Industries Centre (DIC) and the KIADB of failing to provide jobs for children of land loser families, farmers of Kempisiddanahundi village coming under Varuna Assembly Constituency represented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, launched a day-night demonstration in front of the DIC office on K.R. Hospital-K.T. Street road here yesterday.

Raising slogans against KIADB officials and Industries, they demanded that Industries which acquired land from farmers provide jobs to children of land loser families.

Maintaining that the Industries had promised permanent jobs to children of farmers when they acquired land for setting up Industries in Kempisiddanahundi, the farmers said, the Deputy Commissioner had formed a district-level committee headed by the Joint Director of DIC. Though the KIADB officials had written letters to Industries to provide jobs, the Industries are apathetic in providing jobs to members of land loser families.  They said that they were forced to launch the day-night stir as the DIC and KIADB authorities and Industries had failed to provide jobs to children of farmers.

Farmer leaders Bokkahalli Nanjundaswamy, H.M. Basavaraju, Umesh, Manju, Ravi,  and Madhu, Hoovamma,Manjula, Shivamma, Nagamma and others were present.
