Farmers stage protest seeking fulfilment of demands

Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking fulfilment of their various demands, farmers, under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS), staged a demonstration in front of the new Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office on Bannur Road in Siddarthanagar here on Friday.

Urging the Government to withdraw the order asking farmers to pay the cost of power connection to Irrigation pump-sets, the farmers demanded stipulation of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all agricultural produce, extension of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (Crop Insurance) to all crops, stoppage of loan recovery by banks, release of pending money by Insurance companies and payment of money for grains purchased by procurement centres, among others.

The other demands included issuance of Patta to farmers, scientific estimation of crop loss due to wild animal attacks, simplification of rules pertaining to felling and transportation of teak wood grown in farm lands and declaration of Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for sugarcane.

KRRS State President Badagalapura Nagendra, Office-bearers Netravathi, Hosur Kumar, Hoskote Basavaraj, Prasanna N. Gowda, P. Marankaiah and others were present.
