Mysore/Mysuru: Urging for supply of adequate power and for reintroduction of ‘Akrama Sakrama’ scheme, farmers, under the banner of Rajya Raitha Sanghatanegala Okkuta and Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association, will lay siege to Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) Limited’s Managing Director (MD) Office at Hinkal and will hold a massive protest tomorrow (Mar. 26) at 11.30 am, said Association State President Hallikere Bhagyaraj.
Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan recently, he said that the Government had ordered 10 hours of adequate power supply to agricultural pump sets which was not being done and came down heavily on the Government which is asking farmers to install solar pump sets. He also urged to reintroduce ‘Akrama Sakrama’ scheme.
He also said that the transformers were not being repaired on time, despite there being a rule to repair burnt transformers within 72 hours. Keeping all this in mind, a massive protest is being held tomorrow, he said and added that if the officials concerned do not respond to their pleas, they would intensify the protest.
Association State Vice-President Timmappa, Mysuru District Hon. President Shivarudrappa, District President Ravi, Organising Secretary Mahesh, Chamarajanagar Taluk President Kumar, T. Narasipur Taluk President Jayaswamy were present at the press meet.
