Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking fulfilment of farmer demands, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha will take out Mahasangama rally at New Delhi on Feb. 13.
Announcing this at a press meet at Jaladarshini Guest House here recently, Dakshina Bharat Samyukta Kisan Morcha convener Kurubur Shantakumar said that farmers had staged a year-long stir near New Delhi seeking fulfilment of demands.
Farmers have lost hope in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance on meeting the demands. As such, farmer organisations across the country will be taking out Mahasangama rally in the National capital on Feb. 13 to press for fulfilment of demands.
In order to create awareness among the farming community, 14 Kisan Mahapanchayat meetings have been held in different States, he said adding that the Government should enact a Law that guarantees minimum support price for farm produce.

Kurubur Shantakumar further said that the Karnataka Jala Samrakshana Samiti will be hosting a seminar on the topic ‘The current Media and the Democratic System’ at Legislators Home (Shasakara Bhavan) auditorium in Bengaluru on Jan. 24. Former Judges, Social activists and senior Journalists will be taking part in the seminar, he added.
Continuing, Shantakumar wanted the Government to take over Bannari Amman Sugar Factory at Alaganchi coming under Varuna assembly segment, which is represented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, as the factory is blatantly violating permit norms and conditions.
