Farmers urged for a united fight against anti-farmer policies of Governments

Mysore/Mysuru: “It has become inevitable for farmers to fight an united battle against the anti-farmer policies of both the State and Central Governments,” said Karnataka Region Farmers Association State Joint Secretary H.R. Naveen.

He was speaking at the 2nd District Conference of Karnataka Region Farmers Association at Buddha Vihar near Ashoka Circle (Ballal Circle) on Friday.

“The Union Government is more interested in waiving off the loans of the rich, businessmen and corporate companies and is not bothered to waive off farmer loans which shows its anti-farmer policy. The Narendra Modi-led Government, which came to power by saying it will implement Swaminathan Report on Agriculture, has cheated the farmers and filed an affidavit stating that it is not possible to implement the report. In addition, the Union Government tried to bring Farm Laws to benefit the corporate houses harming the interests of the farmers,” alleged Naveen.

“Modi-led Government is again trying to implement those draconian laws and farmers must unite to prevent this. Farmers, who are cultivating the lands for the last 50-60 years, are being denied Saguvali Patra (Letter of Cultivation) needed to get Tilling Rights, citing lack of provision in the rules. But the same lands are being let out to private organisations by a Committee led by Revenue Minister. We all must unite to fight this land mafia,” Naveen concluded.

CITU District Secretary Jayaram, Karnataka Region Farmer Association District Vice-President K. Basavaraj, District Secretary Jagadish Surya and others were present on the occasion.

Prior to the stage programme, a procession was taken out from Ramaswamy Circle to                              Buddha Vihar.
