Mysuru: The valedictory of the 12th anniversary celebrations of Laya Vidya Pratishtana at Sarada Vilas Centenary Hall in Krishnamurthypuram here on Sunday featured a music programme of old melodious Kannada movie songs.
The programme began with all the singers together rendering a devotional song. Singers M.S. Lakshmish, N. Srinath, N. Srikanth, M.R. Sriharsha, Nitin Rajaram Shastri, Vishwanath and M.S. Keerthana rendered popular songs like ‘Yellellu Sangeetave’, ‘Megha bantu megha’, ‘Sharade daye thoride’ and many more melodious numbers.
Speaking on the occasion, District Co-operative Union President H.V. Rajeev opined that Mysuru was truly a cultural capital with good encouragement for art and culture. He said that the Government and the people should identify good cultural organisations and support them.
Mike Chandru (Publicity), Chamarajanagar Vishwanath (Sugama Sangeetha), Vid. G. Parthasarathy (Tabla artiste), Vidu. T.S. Srilakshmi Kumar (Bharatanatyam) and R. Vasudev Bhat (Art Patron) were felicitated on the occasion.
District Minister G.T. Devegowda (GTD) presided.

Singing prowess of GTD: GTD proved his prowess in singing by rendering ‘Adisi nodu beelisi nodu’ from the film ‘Kasturi Nivasa’ and ‘Namo bhootanatha namo deva deva’ from ‘Satya Harischendra’ surprising the audience who applauded his ability to sing so well.
