The Mysore Athletics Club will be felicitating Mysuru city’s upcoming sports persons (for their performance during the year 2015-16, 2016-17), sports journalists and photo journalists (for their yeomen service in the field of sports) at a function to be held at the University Lions Hall auditorium on Jan.27 at 5.30 pm.
Meghana B. Devang, will be given the Best Athlete of the Year Award (2015-17) for her outstanding performance in the National, State and Inter-University level in women’s shot-put event.
Other athletes who will be felicitated are: Sharon Shruthi, R. Chaitra, S.R. Poorvika, W.R. Harshitha, S.R. Sharvik, K.A. Rohan Devaiah, P. Asuthosh, S.N. Shreedhara, V. Ambika, R. Sagar, B. Manush, H.R. Navami and Suhas S. Gowda. Special awards will be given to master athlete B.K. Somashekar and Para Athlete M. Bharath Sharma.
The sports journalists who will be felicitated are K. Onkar Murthy of Prajavani, Mysuru and Avinash Jainhalli of Vijayavani.
The photo journalists who will be felicitated are Nagesh Panathale, Vijaya Karnataka and S. Uday Shankar of The New Indian Express, Mysuru. N. Jinesh, Janatha Agencies, specialist in making sports mementos, will also be felicitated.
The function will be inaugurated by Amshi Prasannakumar, Assistant Editor, Kannada Prabha. Vasu, MLA and President, Mysore Athletics Club, will preside over the function.
The other guests of honour will be K. Harish Gowda, Youth Leader, Ravindra Bhat, News Editor, Prajavani and Dr. P. Krishniah, in-Charge Director, Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore.
