Female Foeticide: As probe deepens, startling revelations emerge

Bail application moved by 9 accused quashed by Court

Pandavapura: As the Police are probing deep into female foeticide racket at the staff quarters in the premises of Taluk Hospital, startling revelations are tumbling out from the casket, with the investigators surmising it as a case more than meets the eye.

A woman, who had undergone abortion illegally a month ago, has got admitted to a hospital for severe bleeding, while another woman from K.R. Nagar is suspected to have died three months ago, due to the health complications that arose with severe bleeding, after undergoing the abortion procedure here.

It is suspected that, hundreds of women in Pandavapura alone may have aborted their foetus and the possibilities of involvement of officers cannot be ruled out. The suspicion over the role of officers stems from the possibilities of several women who got their foetus aborted treated at the Taluk Hospital, other than the hospitals in Mandya and Mysuru.

The bleeding experienced by such women is attributed to the lack of safety measures and inadequate treatment method, with some among them, succumbing later.

It may be mentioned that, Pandavapura Police who are investigating the case have already arrested C.G. Girijamba, Ashwini, S. Naveen Kumar, M.S. Kiran, H.P. Akhilesh, Shruti, Sathyamma, Kumar and M. Anand, who continue to remain in judicial custody while the prime accused in the case, Shivalinga Nayaka, Siddesh and Abhishek Gowda are still at large.

The Court has quashed the bail application moved by all the nine accused. Three more accused in the case, who are currently absconding, had also moved the Court seeking advance bail, but to no avail.
