Female foeticide case: One more woman arrested

Pandavapura: Melukote Police have arrested one more woman in the sex determination and female foeticide case that rocked the taluk recently.

The arrested woman is 50-year-old Asha Shivaraj, a resident of Bemangala village in Nagamangala taluk. She was arrested on Saturday.

On May 30, one Malashree, wife of Ravikumar of K. Shettahalli village in Srirangapatna taluk, got admitted at the Sub-Divisional Hospital in the town following severe bleeding. The Gynaecologist at the Hospital, who examined Malashree, got doubt that she (Malashree) had undergone abortion and enquired her.

Malashree told the doctor that she had indeed underwent abortion at a tiled house in Hosakote of Pandavapura taluk with the help of Shruthi, Geetha and Chethan of K.R. Pet town.

Following a complaint from the District Family Welfare Officer Bettaswamy, a case was registered at Melukote Police Station.

The Police, who swung into action to nab those involved in the case, arrested Asha Shivaraj at Balehonnur and handed her over to Judicial custody.
