Mysuru: A Festschrift entitled ‘Thinking Gender: Socio-Cultural Perspectives,’ published by Concept Publishing Company, New Delhi, will be released on Nov.19 at Rani Bahadur Auditorium, Bahadur Institute of Management Sciences (BIMS), on Hunsur Road in city at 5.30 pm.
The book, edited by Dr. Shalini Surynarayan, Dr. G. Shanthi and Dr. K.G. Gayathri Devi, is a tribute to Prof. R. Indira, formerly Professor of Sociology, University of Mysore (UoM), for her engagement with women’s issues, as a teacher, researcher and writer in her four-decade-long service in the UoM.
The volume contains 19 essays contributed by faculty and researchers, on the theme of gender from a multi-disciplinary perspective.
Prof. V.K. Natraj, formerly Director, Institute of Development Studies, UoM and Madras Institute of Development Studies, Chennai, will release the book. Dr. N. Gayathri, feminist thinker and writer, Bengaluru, will speak about the book. Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, UoM, will preside.
