Mysuru: Financial Literacy Week with the theme ‘Consumer Protection’ was held recently in T. Narasipur Taluk. On the advice of Reserve Bank of India, the Financial Literacy Week was conducted to create awareness among the consumers of financial services about their rights, responsibility, good practices for safe digital transactions and resolution mechanisms in a fast changing digital financial landscape.
Financial Literacy Trust “AMULYA” T. Narasipur promoted by Canara Bank’s Trust conducted ten programmes during this period in T. Narasipur Taluk with the co-operation of Canara Bank (T. Narasipur and Madapura Branch), Syndicate Bank T. Narasipur, Corporation Bank T. Narasipur, State Bank of India Kethupura and Cauvery Grameena Branches situated at Kaliyuru, Gargeshwari, Bannuru, Kodagahalli and Chidravalli and Kotak Mahindra Bank Talakad Branch.
V. S. Seetharam, Financial Counsellor of Financial Literacy Centre, T. Narasipur, explained to the customers, consumers the need for exercising care for smooth carrying out of banking services, how fraudsters try to dupe and cheat, the liability of consumers when the credit /debit /ATM cards are misused and the ways for customers to approach the competent authorities to redress their grievances.
In all, 615 people participated in the awareness meetings, according to a press release from the Financial Literacy Centre.
