Mysore/Mysuru: Six months after a dog was brutally beaten to death with the killing caught on camera in Lakshmipuram, the Police have filed an FIR against four persons yesterday. Lakshmipuram Police action came on the heels of the intervention by People For Animals (PFA) volunteers who visited the spot and made enquiries locally.
Four persons were caught on a phone camera brutally beating an Indian stray dog to death with sticks. According to the complaint lodged by PFA volunteers, the incident occurred on 26.9.2021 at around 11 am on D. Subbaiah Road, Chamaraja Mohalla.
The complaint stated that there are eye-witnesses to the incident. FIR has been registered under IPC Sections 34 and 429 and Section 11(1) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
A press release from the PFA stated that after the video was posted on social media platforms, PFA got in touch with the admins of the pages. The PFA learnt that the incident occurred six months ago and the perpetrators were roaming freely as no complaint was lodged.
The PFA team visited the spot yesterday and informed the same to PFA Founder Maneka Gandhi, who is a former Union Minister and Tarun Agarwal, Anti-Cruelty Officer. The FIR was registered following PFA intervention.
