Mysore/Mysuru: The office-bearers of Karnataka Rajya Grama Adalitha Adhikarigala Kendra Sangha, Mysuru Unit, expressed their displeasure over the Police registering an FIR against Revenue Department officials for issuing a ‘Death Certificate’ to a living person.
They submitted a memorandum to the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) yesterday, outlining their concerns.
In the memorandum, the Association office-bearers highlighted that FIR No. 0063/2024, dated 23.05.2024, was registered against Revenue Officers at Biligere Police Station in Nanjangud taluk.
They pointed out that, according to Government circular 114/2017-18, it is mandatory to seek permission from higher officials before registering a case.
However, they observed that this protocol was not followed in this instance. They suggested that had the Police sought information from department heads or higher officers, the truth would have been revealed.
The office-bearers also noted that the Police lacked sufficient information about Revenue Department documents. They expressed concern that such incidents undermine the confidence of those serving in the Revenue Department, making it challenging for them to fulfil their duties effectively.
Association President Nagesh urged ADC Shivaraj to issue directives to the Police and ensure that similar incidents are avoided in the future.
