FIR registered against Mysuru Bishop

Mysuru: Lashkar Police have registered an FIR against Mysuru Bishop Most Rev. K.A. William on charges of misconduct and impropriety. The complainant, Robert Rosario, is a member of the Association of Concerned Catholics and he has accused the Bishop of “kidnapping, threatening and outraging the modesty of a woman.”

The complainant had recently accused the Bishop of financial misappropriation and irregularities in the administration of the diocese.

The FIR (Crime Number 0094/2019) was registered on Thursday under IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).

Mumbai-based Association of Concerned Catholics raised a series of allegations against the Bishop including possession of properties under benami and suspicious transactions. Later, a video featuring a former Family Committee Secretary (a woman) accusing the Bishop of kidnapping her and threatening her against disclosing the details of illicit relationships and financial irregularities against him, was doing the rounds.

However, Fr. William had denied any misconduct on his part or irregularities in the functioning of the diocese and dubbed the allegations against him as part of a conspiracy or politics to tarnish his name or besmirch the community.
