Mysuru: Fit Mysuru Walkathon, organised by University of Mysore (UoM), in association with Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA), GSS CSR, Gym Association and other organisations will be flagged-off by District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and Mountaineer Dr. Usha Hegde at the Open Air Theatre in Manasagangothri campus on Jan. 11 (Sunday) at 6.30 am.
Addressing mediapersons at Crawford Hall here this morning, UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.K. Lokanath said that the response had been encouraging with more than 10,000 enthusiasts expected to take part in the Fit Mysuru Walkathon.
“Arrangements for drinking water, ambulance among others have been made for the safety of the participants,” he added.
Prof. Lokanath urged the students and citizens to take part in the Walkathon in large numbers to support the cause of clean, healthy and safe Mysuru.
The 5K Walkathon organised with theme ‘Clean Mysuru, Green Mysuru, Healthy Mysuru and Safe Mysuru’ will pass through Open Air Theatre, Bogadi Main Road, Saraswathipuram Fire Station, Maharaja’s College Grounds, Crawford Hall, Hunsur Main Road, Paduvarahalli Junction and Open Air Theatre Road before culminating at Senate Hall in Manasagangothri.
Registration for the event will be held between 5.30 am and 6 am, followed by zumba session between 6 am and 6.15 am and rendition of Nadageethe (State Anthem) and Vande Mataram by 200 singers from 6.15 am to 6.30 am. UoM Registrar M.K. Savitha was also present.
