Five child labourers rescued from Devaraja Market

Mysuru:  In an operation following a tip off from the public, officials attached to Child Helpline, along with Devaraja Police, have rescued five child labourers working in shops at Devaraja Market in city yesterday.

The rescued five children, all aged below 14 years, were taken to K.R. Hospital for medical examination, following which they were temporarily sheltered in the Government Boys Balamandira in Vijayanagar Second Stage.

The Child Helpline Members, who visited Devaraja Market a week back, had asked the shop owners who had employed child labourers. But as the shop owners ignored the caution, the Helpline officials raided such shops and rescued five children.

Meanwhile, the Helpline Co-ordinator Anil Kumar has appealed the members of the public to call Child Helpline 1098, if they come across any cases of child labour.
