Mysore/Mysuru: A five-day free hearing aids repair camp, organised by the Department of Electronics, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), began at its campus here today morning. The camp will be held till Jan. 31 from 10 am to 5 pm.
AIISH Electronics Head N. Manohar told Star of Mysore that five companies were participating in this camp without charging any fees and added that such camps are being held since 2004.
Continuing, Manohar said that earlier, people with hearing disabilities were using body level hearing aids but now due to advancement in technology, people are using behind the ear hearing aids. He further added that AIISH has been distributing hearing aids, free of cost, to economic backward people with hearing disabilities through Central Government funds.
A similar camp, held in 2018, attracted 650 persons who had got their hearing aids repaired at the camp, Manohar said and called upon the public to make use of this free repair camp.
AIISH Director Dr. M. Pushpavathi, Electronics Department Faculty S. R. Srinivas, AYUSH District Officer Dr. Seethalakshmi and others were present.
